WHAT’S IN A NAME? EVERYTHING… 

Elohim = Creator 

In the beginning God (Elohim) created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God (Elohim) was moving over the surface of the waters. Genesis 1:1,2 

’Ab = God the Father  

A father (‘Ab) of the fatherless and a judge for the widows, Is God in His holy habitation. Psalm 68:5 

God is, Father Of All; Creator Of All; But That Is Not ‘ALL’ 

“Now this is eternal life – that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you sent” John 17:3 (NET) 

Jehova-Jireh = PROVIDER 

So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide (Jehovah Jireh). And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.” Genesis 22:14 

Elohim Ozer Li = SUSTAINER  

Surely God is my help (Elohim Ozer Li); the Lord is the one who sustains me. Psalm 54:4 

Jehova-Immeka = GUIDE  

When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord (Jehovah) is with you (Immeka), mighty warrior.” Judges 6:12 

Elohei Mikkarov = AVAILABLE  

Am I a God (Elohei) who is near (Mikkarov), declares the Lord, and not a God far off? Jeremiah 23:23 

Peleh Yo’etz = COUNSEL/ADVISOR  

For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful (Peleh), Counselor (Yo’etz), Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 

Jehovah Machsi = REFUGE  

I will say of the LORD (Jehovah), “He is my refuge (Machsi) and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Psalm 91:2 

Jehovah Magen = PROTECTOR  

Blessed are you, Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the Lord (Jehovah)? He is your shield (Magen) and helper and your glorious sword. Your enemies will cower before you, and you will tread on their heights.” Deuteronomy 33:29 

Jehovah Maginnenu = DEFENSE 

For the LORD (Jehovah) is our defense (Maginnenu); and the Holy One of Israel is our King. Psalm 89:18 

Elohim Shophtim Ba-arets = JUDGE  

Then people will say, “Surely the righteous still are rewarded; surely there is a God who judges the earth (Elohim Shophtim Ba-arets).” Psalm 58:11 

Jehovah Goelekh = REDEEMER  

You will drink the milk of nations and be nursed at royal breasts. Then you will know that I, the Lord (Jehovah), am your Savior, your Redeemer (Goelekh), the Mighty One of Jacob. Isaiah 60:16 

Ehyeh asher Ehyeh = ALL YOU NEED  

God said to Moses, “I AM Who I AM”; (Ehyeh asher Ehyeh) and He said, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ Exodus 3:14
